Super Figure Review Sunday - Legendary Heroes Series 1 Part 2

December 16th, 2007

Legendary Heroes Review - Ripclaw 2Welcome back to part 2 of our extended Legendary Heroes Review. Today we’re gonna cover the other half of Series 1, Ripclaw, Madman, and BAF Pitt with his half brother Timmy.

And away we gooo.

Last week Sunday we covered the first half of this line and sadly I’m late again so lets get started. First things first Ripclaw. He was a member of the team CyberForce and for all intents and purposes was probably one of Images answers to Wolverine. I say one of because in early Image they had several Wolverine-ish characters, but back to this one.

Legendary Heroes Review - Ripclaw 1Ripclaw is a pretty cool figure. Hes a good sculpt with a cool wrist pouch, which seems pointless cause I can’t ever remember him using gadgets, arm bands, Long hair, cool boots, and all around nice paint job that doesn’t seem patched or rushed in any areas, at least on mine.

Ripclaw has joints bub!

  • Neck, although the hair gets a little in the way. And does ponytail rotation count as a joint?
  • Shoulder

  • Forearm, Wrist, Individual Finger/Claw Movement

  • He can bend and turn at the waist.

  • He’s got ball joints in his legs for full movement, knee joints so he can bend there and ankle and toe joints.

Complaints on the figure? Can’t say I have many. If I had one, it would be that he should have come with another set of hands but I could be wrong I thought I remembered Ripclaw being able to turn his hands back to normal looking, albeit metal ones, but I could be imagining it. Here’s hoping for some more CyberForce figures, even if most people have forgotten most of them cept Cyblade and Velocity.

Next on the review train we have Madman.

Legendary Heroes Review - Madman

Say hello to everyone Madman!

Madman is a creation of Frank Allerd and has been published by numerous companies over the characters existence. Madman was a hit-man who was killed in a car accident, then stitched back together and brought to life by a pair of mad scientists. Madman’s world is particularly strange. It is a world where mutants, extraterrestrials and freaks run rampant. The comic book takes place in Snap City, which is home to the planet’s only superhero: the Madman.

This figure leaves me ambivalent. While it is a very good sculpt it just seems odd. One, my character had blue highlights in various areas of the body, now having not read the comic I’m not sure if that is normal but in looking at pictures it appears not so the paint seems either off, or not completely done on this Madman.

As for joints on Madman.

  • Neck
  • Shoulder, which made a clicking noise when turning, not unlike those old cars u got that you had to drag back to make them drive forward.

  • Forearm, Wrist, All for One finger movement

  • He can bend and turn at the waist.

  • He’s got ball joints in his legs for full movement, knee joints so he can bend there and ankle and toe joints.

Legendary Heroes Review - Madman 2Not sure why but for a slightly simple figure Madman seems to have less joints then some of the others. Very odd. And at least in my case the worst paint job, and this is a figure who primarily is only wearing a white costume. Very very odd. If I had to pick one as my least favorite for the set its him. Sorry Madman.

And last in this line is the BAF, Pitt.

Legendary Heroes Review - Pitt (Full)Pitt is a big boy and early Image’s answer to well, probably nothing, but he is darn sure Hulk huge and strong. Pitt is a human/alien hybrid, created by an alien race known as the Creed, genetically engineered to serve as a killing machine. He appears more alien than human, with red, pupil-less eyes, gray skin, sharp oversize teeth and large talons.

This is a good build a figure. possibly better then most of the past ones we have received in any Legends Line. It stands at least double the size of most Legends figures and is loaded with articulation. His sculpt is really good as he has his cut off jean jacket vest, his ripped jeans, veins pulsing through his legs and arms, and big thick nails on his hands and feet.

And don’t forget the big guys toothy grin.Legendary Heroes Review - Pitt

Again this is a big, solid BAF. He stands up and holds poses fairly easily and it is definitely solid. I fear putting this guy on anything even slightly over my head in anticipation that one day I will bump something and Pitt will smash.

Here’s Pitts rundown.

  • Neck
  • Shoulder

  • Forearm, Wrist, Individual Finger Movement and Knuckle movement

  • He can bend and turn at the waist.

  • He’s got ball joints in his legs for full movement, knee joints so he can bend there and toe joints.

  • Did I also mention he comes with chains across his torso, his ankles and his wrists for that cool dangerous 90s superhero/villain look?

Pitt is a one bad mother.

And I think, if I remember correctly, Madman also comes with Timmy, Pitt’s little brother.

Legendary Heroes Review - Pitt and TimmyYea…so Timmy.

Timmy can’t do anything.

That sums up his articulation. Truthfully, Timmy is a worst figure then the Franklin Richards we got years ago in a Fantastic Four box-set.

Timmy just looks shocked and scared while his cool hair covers part of his face. I will not even bother taking a picture of him because he angers me so.

And I think that brings this review to a close. Legendary Heroes Series 1 is a good lineup, its got some older semi independent favorites that will appeal to serious toy collectors but definitely don’t carry the name recognition of the Marvel or DC figure line, but they definitely match them in terms of quality. So if you want to see more of them you gotta make sure to buy them.

Sorry again for the long ass time I took putting it up, as it was supposed to be Friday and here it is again on Sunday night. See you guys tomorrow with a new Men of Action, and hopefully a new figure review for Friday.
